Here are some pictures from a few of the other adventures I’ve been on recently. There are some pictures from around West Seattle, Downtown, taking walks with the dog, Alki Beach, the aquarium, and our hike at Snoquamie Falls.

Loving the outdoors!

Standard

I’m really bad about posting on here… but I need to get better! I can really utilize this as a way to share my adventures with my family back home in the midwest who refuse to get Facebook!

It’s amazing how much more time I spend outdoors now that I live in the PNW. Everyplace I go is breathtaking and today was no different. A friend I went and hiked up to Rattlesnake Ridge! They said it was an easy hike, but it still kicked my butt (not that it is a bad thing)! Here are some pictures from today’s hike! Check out my nice dirt shocks I have going on at the end!

Lets get this going again!

Here we go! It has been over 2 years since I blogged last! When I created this blog it was during a trip I took overseas so my family and friends back home could keep up with me! Well, I’ve started a new chapter in my life and figured why not share it with the world!

Almost 6 months ago I packed up my life and move from the good ol’ Midwest to the Pacific Northwest in Seattle. My whole life I have lived in St. Louis, most of my family and friends are all there, so this is a huge change for me! Going into it I kept telling myself give it a year, if you are miserable you can always move home! But the crazy thing is… when I got to Seattle I instantly knew this was my new home! As much as I miss my family and friends this city has done wonderful things for me in such a short time! For the first time in a long time I have a career that I love, I’m making new friends (which I didn’t realize was so hard as an adult), I’m trying new things, exploring the surrounding areas and becoming the real me!

I can’t guarantee that I will post on a regular basis, but I just recently started using Influenster and Ipsy… so my plan is to also use this blog as an outlet to post for those sites as well.

I hope you enjoy!

Au revoir Paris… Hello UK!

Standard

On our last day in France we took to train to Reims which is in Champaign country… Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE champaign, so this was a great day trip! The weather was beautiful and sunny (about time)! After arriving at the train station we walked to the tourism office which was next door to another amazingly beautiful cathedral… Also named Notre Dame. We walked around the inside and were baffled at how much detail goes into these churches. I wish we had more like this in the states! After that we walked 1 or 2 miles to the Taittinger Champaign House where we took a tour of their underground champaign cellars. Did you know… All champaign (the real stuff) is 1. made in Champaign country in France, and 2. stored/aged underground in miles upon miles of underground tunnels!!! It was really neat seeing the tunnels and learning the history… But of course my favorite part was tasting the champaign! After that we walked to G.H. Martel & Co. where we took another short tour, sampled 3 types of champaign and then started heading back towards the train station! On the way we had to stop and have one more glass so we found a nice little cafe and had our final glass of champaign before heading back to Paris.

When we got back to the city we found a cute little bistro and had our final dinner in Paris. I for the first time in my life tried escargot and French Onion soup (both of which I enjoyed)!

This morning we took the Eurostar (high speed rail) to London. From there we took another train to Newark where our wonderful family friend Jane picked us up and brought us 45-60minutes to her house in Louth! Jane and her husband Ian have the most beautiful house and yard! Everything here is breathtaking! Jane gave us a tour of the house and yard and we got to meet 3 little friends while out in the garden… their names are Omelette, Soufflé and Quiche; the friendliest chickens I have ever met. We have enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner/dessert and even better company! Now it’s off to bed so we can tour Lincolnshire tomorrow. Good night all!

Paris Day 3… And 2

Standard

Bonjour… Today has been a very slow day! It was another day filled with rain, and because of that it wasn’t a huge deal that I didn’t wake up to the alarm. We were out of the hotel around 9:45 and headed downtown by the bus. We went straight to Notre Dame and I got a few pictures in. From there we walked to Ste Chapelle and then to the Pompidou! While there we were able to see the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit! That was AWESOME! When we came out we were a little disappointed that it was still raining… Our plan was to use our 2nd ay ticket for our bus tour, but to our surprise the route we wanted to take was cancelled due to the Techno Parade. Instead we sat in a little restaurant and had a drink. Then we wondered around until we found the perfect place to eat… And let me tell you, the place we ate was perfect! It was a small crepe restaurant. I had a buckwheat crepe with chicken, mushrooms with cream and Barb had one with chicken in coconut milk! For dessert we shared a crepe with Tiramisu, chocolate mouse, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream! Yumm! Then we headed home! Tomorrow… We’re taking the train to Remis and touring champaign country!

Now… Back to yesterday since I was too tired to post! We started the day early by taking the bus tour to all the major sights. We stopped at McDonalds and had hot chocolate and macaroons… They also had croissants and other items. Then we walked to Arc De Triumphe and climbed go the top! It was way too many steps, but I made it! I only wish it wasn’t rainy so we would have had a better view. After that we got back on the bus and took it to the Eiffel Tower. We wondered around a bit and then took our boat tour up and down the Seine River. From there we got back on the bus and went to the Moulin Rouge. We took a few pictures and then headed to the Basilique Du Sacre-Couer. That was such a beautiful church. While there the sun came out for a bit and we were able to have a great view of the whole city! We stopped at a little bistro near then Basilique and had a glass of wine before heading back towards the central part of the city. When we got off the bus we booked it to the Louve through the Tuileries and made it into the museum in time to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo among some others. When we came out of the museum it was raining again so we wondered util we found a place to eat. We stopped at a little hole in the wall and had a glass of wine to drink. I had a smoked salmon pizza and barb had bread (toasted) with truffle
Sauce and pâté…. It was to die for! Then we took the metro (subway) back to the hotel and went to bed. I was after 1am when we got back. That’s why I didn’t want to post last night.

It’s getting late now and my alarm is set for 6am so I am going to bed now! I can’t wait to update you on champaign country tomorrow! Night!

Paris day 2

Standard

Good morning… Well at least for me it is! It’s 2:30am back home and I hope you are all fast asleep! I’m downstairs eating breakfast right now… I’ve been on carb overload since we’re given a croissant and French baguette for breakfast! But oh… Let me tell you… It’s so good!!! We got out for over 13 hours yesterday, but I fell asleep as soon as we got back so I didn’t post! I will double up tonight including info and pictures from yesterday! Have a wonderful day!

Paris Day 1

If you’ve been keeping up with today’s posts you know how eventful the day has been! After waiting 3.5 hours in baggage claim to meet up with Aunt Barb we finally embarked on our journey into the city. We took 2 different trains to get to our hotel (and it went off without a hitch), checked in, and I took a nap. Then we ventured out for an early dinner. We stopped and sat outside at a small cafe where I had a Croque Monsieur which is the French version of a grilled ham and cheese… And let me tell you… It was AMAZING! Barb had a French baguette wit Camembert cheese which was also amazing. Now we are back in our room and ready for bed so we can start our day bright and early! Good night!

Made it to Paris!

Standard

What a day it has been! My flight from St. Louis to Washington DC was delayed 30 minutes on the Tarmac… This meant that as I stepped off the plane my flight to Montreal was taking off! The only option I has was to run from my gate in the A terminal to the tram to the C terminal… That’s right, I was one of those crazy people running through the airport! I made it to customer service and they were able to get me on a direct flight to Paris but the doors were about to close… So once again I was running through the airport! BUT I MADE IT! I am actually typing this from over the Atlantic (to be exact I’m a little west of Newfoundland and Labrador! I’m flying at 610 mpg at 37,011 ft with an outside temperature of -63 degrees! I will arrive in Paris around 6:30am their time and Aunt Barb will arrive a few hours after me from San Fran! My plan is to find a comfy chair and hang out till she arrives! If you’re reading this, it’s after the fact and I have found Internet to post this (crazy how there’s no Wifi here… Who would have guessed)! Off here for now, more updates soon!

I’ve officially landed and have to wait 3 hrs for barb 😦

Pure luck!

Someone is looking out for me… Right as I published the last post Barb called! They got her on a flight from San Francisco to Paris and we arrive at the same time! Now we just have to meet at the airport! I will take it!!! I just know that everything will go off without a hitch from here out!

I’m leavin on a jet plane…

Greetings from Lambert International Airport! I’m here and waiting for my flight… and it has been a very eventful morning! I woke up at 6:30 (1.5 hours before my alarm) and was wide eyed and ready to go! Then 20 minutes before I was set to leave Charter showed up (2 days after my scheduled appointment). Now come to find out Barbs flight from LA to Montreal has been delayed for 2 hours and she may miss her connection (where we meet up) to Paris! Say a prayer for us because I don’t want to arrive in a foreign city alone if I don’t have to… More updates to follow!
